The Common Admission Test or CAT exam is the most popular for all MBA course aspirants. Considered as one of the most premium exams all across India the CAT exam is one of the toughest competitive exams in India. Every year almost 2.5 lakh students compete across all over India to get admission in one of the IIMs. These students are across all graduation backgrounds which mainly includes Commerce, Engineering, Science, and Arts. Their main purpose is to get in the first 6500 seats, which is the total number in all the IIMs combined. The level of CAT questions over the years has become easier. However, to secure a seat in the premium college 90+ percentile score is a must. 

After one year of Covid pandemic CAT 2021 exam is going to be more important for students especially for the ones who lost their track in the lock-down. It is important preparation should start early and you should also have an idea of the CAT 2021 syllabus. This will help to make the best possible strategy for CAT 2021.

Exam Pattern for CAT 2021

Over the past, this prestigious exam had altered its pattern several times.

As per the current rules, the exam has three main sections:

  • Verbal and Reading Comprehension (VARC): This is the language section designed to test the vocabulary skills of students. Along with the same reading comprehension test the speed reading capability and fast a candidate can absorb the meaning of any content. This section has 34 questions.
  • Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (DI & LR): This is the section to test the logical thinking capability and how fast a candidate can interpret a given data mostly represented in graphical forms. This section has 32 questions.
  • Quantitative Ability (QA): This is the Math section and checks the ability of a candidate to quickly solve any given problem. This section has 34 questions

Besides the total score, candidates can know the score of each individual section.

The questions in each section are designed with the syllabus topic around any standard 10+2 level. Hence for any graduate passing students that might be doable. However, the real challenge for CAT is the ability to complete the same in a given time.

CAT 2023 is scheduled to be held on November 26. The test will be computer-based mode and held across 400+ test centers in India. The Notification for CAT 2023 is expected to be published in first week of August and close by mid-September, 2023.

  • Candidate should  have Bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution in any field 
  • Should have minimum 50% (for General) and 45% (for reserved categories)
