How can you improve communication skills before joining MBA college?
While preparing for the toughest and most prestigious entrance examination like CAT, XAT, CMAT, TISS, MH-CET; one must be paying attention to the development of some key skills that are important for management professionals. Among the different soft skills, communication skill is perhaps the most important. Effective communication is all about delivering and understanding information promptly and accurately. Here is how you, a management aspirant, can develop your communication skills before starting off with an MBA course.
Read books:
Reading has always been noted as a good way of increasing the ability to communicate. You can select any piece of writing as per your liking and interest, and make a habit of reading aloud. It can be anything, a novel, a journal, or a magazine. Reading also enhances the general knowledge level and makes you aware of the recent happenings.
Be a patient listener:
You must become a good listener and have patience while trying to comprehend what the other person is saying. It is not appropriate that you have the habit of causing an interruption while the other is putting forward his viewpoints and opinions. It is best to speak in turn and respect other’s ideas.
Engage in having organized thoughts:
Unorganized thoughts often lead to ineffective communication. You must practice being clear regarding what you intend to communicate. Be sensible while talking and use relevant words only to the best of your abilities.
Have confidence and the right attitude:
If one does not have the right attitude and approach, the development of communication skills is not possible at any cost. Be confident while communicating, both orally and in writing.
Since there is no magic trick by which one can improve his communication skills, you need to give the process some time. Remember, as an MBA aspirant you must be mastering his communication skills. This will help you in performing well in MBA from the desired Business school and proving your spunk while studying and in the corporate field.
